Computer games and life

Below is something that a friend of mine wrote which I think is very true:

Life is like a giant MMORPG, and we’re all playing it until we die. We live in a world full of different people, different challenges, different ways to go in life, and above all, you only have one shot at it. You have the play this “game of life” by the rules laid down for you by nature and the people around you, and only with whatever you have at hand, rise up above defeat and carve out a part in society for yourself, just like in a computer game.

I am an avid gamer, and I play computer games quite often during the holidays and weekends. While many will definitely question me on how gaming has benefitted me all this while, and some might even say it detracts from my studies, but to answer the former, I have definitely learned a lot of lessons from gaming. It has taught me to keep striving forward in the face of all adversity, team spirit and discipline.

As with life, gaming takes us through a thought-process every time we immerse ourselves in it. I find that this is useful for us in many ways, for us to improve ourselves every time we do something. As always, every single step towards the final goal is in itself a small victory before the final one. Just as a team captures an important location on a battlefield, it adds to points accumulated for deciding the winner. To me a great achievement is not just one achievement, rather a cumulative amount of small successes combined together.

This thought-process mentioned above is simple. We examine the situation at hand, calculate the risks and plan for the best way to do it. We try to predict what the enemy might do and come up with back-up plans for our actions. When the time comes for us to do it, our only choice is to just grit our teeth and hope for the best. Although we do not always succeed, we should always appreciate what we have achieved so far. Despite this, we should never become complacent and should always reflect and review our actions, for if we failed, we have to try again, and if we didn’t, there is still room for improvement, like the way one always strives to better his existing highscore.

First day of school (sad)

Its a stupid day. Got back maths test 25.5 out of 30. Then chem test 20/30 (expected). Geo project greenwave 19/30 (cant believe same score as the slacker group). Second geo project 18/20.

Physic practical test: 1 out of 15. (expect to get maybe 3? cos nver draw graph at all... wrong data recorded)

Seriously hate practical test. I have almost nver do well for any prac test be it chem of physics. Dun know y, somehow i follow instruction erm result somehow end up a bit different. Why cant they just accept that answer, not that i did wrong in calculation. I mean i got that result wat. Beside that, the 1/15 test was totally screwed up by me. Lets just say, erm i drew the graph that i not suppose to draw. Then last 1 min realise that drew wrongly, erased everything and times up... Really just my bad luck or something. Then result also all wrong since i recorded the wrong thing. The 1 mark came from my pre-caution taken... Dun know to be happy or wat.

Now physics from a 70% drop to 65%. (WTH IS WITH THAT LA. I TOT PHY PRACTICAL CHOOSE 2 best out of 3? Why the 1/15 counted??!! IF there is god pls let the final report be changed and giv me the result i should get. really nid that 5% Arrrrrhhhhhh)
